    Atlanta aka Hot-lanta!

Monday, July 21, 2008, 11:17 PM EST [General]

Atlanta is Awesome!  It is the New York City of the South.  Fashion, dining, theatre and lots more create a place unlike anywhere else.

Atlanta Humane Society's (AHS) Adoption Entrance and adoption waiting area

Available dogs and cats enjoy lush accomodations in between pets and walks

My most recent adventure was visiting Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) located in the heart of Atlanta.  This retro 60,000 square foot building houses hundreds of adoptable dogs and cats awaiting their new home.  With three veterinarians onsite their clinic provides hundreds of spay/neuter surgeries and other veterinarian services to the public on a daily basis.

      Puppies galore waiting for homes

As some of you may or may not know, AHS was one of the few shelters that decided to take action when a puppy mill came under attack in Tennessee.  Thanks to the help of the staff at AHS, more than a hundred puppies' lives were saved and now in forever homes.

During my visit in the middle of July, AHS received yet another call regarding a similar situation with a puppy mill located in GA.  Once again, AHS came to the rescue.  It just goes to show that if there is a need Atlanta is sure to jump onboard and help out.

I have included some photos of the shelter along with a photo of the President Carl Leveridge and Director of Operations Richard Rice.

If you're in the Atlanta area stop by and say hello to the staff and take a look at their amazing facility.

    Florida trip

Sunday, July 20, 2008, 09:08 PM EST [General]

July was the month I decided to take a trip through Florida to see some of our PetPoint shelters.  I started my journey in Jacksonville and ended it in Miami Beach.  For an entire week I had the pleasure of meeting with staff members and many four legged friends awaiting their new home.

Here are some photos to show you what the shelters are doing and how they are making a difference in the lives of animals every day.

Enjoy the photos and please feel free to comment!

    Toronto Trip

Thursday, June 26, 2008, 06:49 PM EST [Travel]

Toronto is a beautiful city rich in history!  During my visit, Gilberto was kind enough to take me on a tour and show me some of the highlights.  I've included some photos to give you a taste of the places and people we met.   Some sights you must see if you are traveling is the University of Toronto featured above.  My only comparison to it in the states would be Duke University in North Carolina.  The architecture is similar and both campuses are beathtaking.

For the shop-a-holics like myself, Yorkville will impress and delight you.  It is a shopper's dream.  Every store you could imagine is here.  Just don't forget your credit cards- VISA is always welcome here!

During my visit to Toronto I had the pleasure of meeting Bella the Pug.  This adorable girl was enjoying the attention from tourists like myself.   Everyone is a friend and not a stranger similar to the attitude found in Toronto.

Saturday, June 21, 2008, 12:15 AM EST [Travel]

Hello, PetPoint family!  Steve, Gilberto and I are in Kansas City, MO for the SAWA convention.  After a day filled with speakers it was time to hit the ball park.  The Royals played the SF Giants and we were entertained in the deluxe air conditioned stadium seating.  Thanks to Judy Burnett for making this a reality!  Wish you were here!!

Now ,don't forget to get your shelter signed up on PetPoint Community to share photos, ideas, and meet people in your field.  Simply click on community site and the rest is up to you.  The opportunities are endless.
