My journey began in the mystical city of Savannah, Georgia. I went to visit and meet the staff at the Hyatt Regency where our PetPoint Summit will be held for the Southern territories. I have attached some photos of the hotel and surrounding area for your viewing pleasure. Even a photo of the Riverboat Cruise that attendees will be setting sail on the first evening.
(The main lobby when you enter the Hyatt)
(Directly across the street from the hotel)
(I can't wait to get on this baby!)
This is a beautiful cemetary I stumbled across while walking to dinner. There are tours scheduled on a daily basis for those interested.
While in Savannah I stopped by to visit our friends at the Humane Society of Savannah-Chatham and had the pleasure of meeting Naomi and Nancy. A quaint shelter where staff loves their animals as if they're their own.
(Volunteer walking one of the resident dogs)
(Entrance to the shelter)

(Waiting area decorated with gorgeous photos of former residents)
My next stop was Charleston Animal Society in Charleston, South Carolina. Another gorgeous city with incredible people. You gotta love the south.
(Main lobby features a huge donation box- not a bad idea!)
(A get acquainted room for potential adopters to spend one on one time with pets)
(I couldn't resist this photo op with these adorable Pit babies. These babies were seized from an abandoned house without a mother)
Thanks for checking out my latest visit through Georgia and South Carolina to visit some of our PetPoint clients.
Don't forget to Save the Date for the PetPoint Summits coming to a city near you.

I feel like a bad mom and should've posted something on his actual birthday but I guess now is better than ever.
Yes, my red nose Pit Bull Terrier turned 14 years old the beginning of the month. I can't believe it. He might be a bit slower, sleeps more, not as tone as in his younger years, but he's still kickin' as we say in the south.
I have been blessed to have healthy babies. Granted their lives are pretty easy and relaxing.
The next one to turn 14 years old will be my Boxer Moses in December. Now, he has lived a lot longer than I would have expected.
Happy birthday to all the seniors out there! And remember to enjoy the time you have with them now.

My trip started by visiting Humane Society of Catawba County located in Hickory, NC. I was invited to attend a PAWS meeting and speak to local shelter staff and board members about PetPoint and all of its incredible programs.
Many of the attendees are current PetPoint clients and couldn't say enough positive things about how wonderful the software is. Then several told stories of how the insurance has made a huge impact on more shelter pets remaining in their adopter's home instead of being returned for minor illnesses.
Humane Society of Catawba County does an incredible job keeping their shelter pets in a clean and stable environment. Many of the cats roam freely while all dogs have beds to rest their heads on. It is a beautiful facility and one that their staff should truly appreciate.
Next stop was Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society where I thought I might not ever find it nestled in the mountains. Thank goodness I found the shelter and got to spend some time with the staff and pets.
When you drive into the shelter you first see dog play areas where they all come greet you to say hello and pick me. They have so much room to run freely and enjoy the sun and grass. At the end of the day, they are all taken into the kennels for a peaceful night's sleep. No animals remain outside after hours.
In the main building you are greeted by kitties or trapeze artists meowing for your attention. So many beautiful cats.
Sometimes a bowl just won't do. You need fresh water straight from the faucet.
Sampson is recovering quite well from his bear attack. Yes, bear attack. The gash and huge cuts are on his back and his ear has been sewn back together. I guess you can say Sampson is a pretty tough dude!
Sampson loves Cassie and the rest of the ladies at the shelter. He knows how special and lucky he is to be there.

Thanks to Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) and Humane Society of North Texas, these two PetPoint shelters are saving the lives of innocent puppies from a recent puppy mill bust in Bowie, TX.
On its maiden voyage, the AHS' new H.E.A.R.T. (Humane Emergency Animals Rescue Team) vehicle rescued 74 purebred dogs from a Bowie, Texas puppy mill Monday night. The animals - living in substandard, deplorable conditions - were seized from the Heddins Kennels and Maggic Pets' Kennels by the Humane Society of North Texas. The animals were then transported to Atlanta by a team from the Atlanta Humane Society where they will soon be placed up for adoption.
"Many of these dogs are very well socialized and in good condition," said Richard Rice, general manager and vice president of operations, Atlanta Humane Society. "But they will still require thorough medical checks before they are placed for adoption to be sure they are completely healthy."
Adopters interested in the Bowie, Texas dogs are welcome to visit the Atlanta Humane Society's Web site at www.atlantahumane.org to find out more information on when the animals will be ready for adoption, and just like all "Society Pets" at the Atlanta Humane Society, these dogs will be vetted - bathed and groomed, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Purebreds such as poodles, Chihuahuas, huskies, beagles, Labradors, rat terriers, schnauzers, dachshunds, Pomeranians, Pekingese, Tibetan spaniels, spitzs, miniature pinschers, Jack Russell terriers, cairn terriers, and peek-a-poos will be available for $250 each.
